![]() Although Citadel Broadcasting, their parent company, folded in 2009, today Opie and Anthony (along with comedian Jim Norton) still broadcast daily on SiriusXM to millions of people across the continent. After that, a deal was stuck that brought Opie and Anthony back to terrestrial radio while simulcasting on satellite. When Howard Stern left terrestrial radio in 2006, David Lee Roth was (stupidly) brought in to host a show in his place. ![]() After being taken off the air for two years for a stunt which involved two people having sex in a church (hilarious, by the way), Opie and Anthony returned to XM Satellite Radio in 2004. Through it all, the Opie and Anthony show adapted and persevered. ![]() One by one, shows like Kid Chris, Ron and Fez, JV and Elvis, and Mancow (ugh) were forced to either leave the airwaves or change their format. When the Federal Communications Commission began cracking down and limiting the fun that radio stations could have, some of the best shows began to water down their programming. The best show on the airwaves today is The Opie and Anthony Show. As the decades passed, we saw the rise of talk radio giants like Don Imus, Rush Limbaugh, and Howard Stern. What started out as a way for local sports promoters and businessmen to promote their interests soon grew as radio stations increased in their power and range. Ever since radio first came into the American mainstream in the early 1920s, people have been listening to talk radio shows.
