You could unlock different visual styles through achievements, gold purchases from NPC vendors, and of course the Crown Store. However in terms of outfit station customization the slot would open up the option of anything back-related, allowing ZOS to add new customization options over time. To avoid having to go back and make styles for back slots for every motif in the game, they could be treated like another jewelry slot for the purpose of crafting, with a generic default appearance for light/medium, and heavy, possibly with a cape/cloak or backpack option much like you can make a jerkin or robe for light armor. The possibilities for what these items might look like are limitless, and it would add a whole other revenue stream for ZOS as they could get really creative with the sort of thing you could transmog this slot to: Camping gear, different lore-friendly cape and cloak options, fishing gear, standards/banners, really the only limit is the imagination of the devs and what would reasonably fit within the visual theme and esthetic of the Elder Scrolls.Īn added slot would allow more options for legendaries in the future as well, as you could build 5 + 5 + 2 + Legendary builds with the benefit of two full 5-piece sets and both a monster and legendary set. I feel this takes away from all the work that went into making all those monster sets.Ī simple and seemingly obvious solution, which would be in keeping with some of the most popular mods ever made for Skyrim, would be to add a new character slot, specifically for cloaks, capes, backpacks, or generally "back items." However, in order to wear a Legendary item you either have to sacrifice a 5-piece bonus (which is almost never worth it), or drop one of the head/shoulder pieces and use a single monster set item for the 1-piece bonus as a pure stat boost item with no special effects. These effects have been steadily nerfed to the point of being largely irrelevant now, which is a real shame to my way of thinking as the variety of sets is really a lot of fun. Since the introduction of Legendary items the game has moved away from the paradigm of functional Monster Sets (two-piece helm & shoulder sets from dungeons) with cool unique procs and effects.
